19 month old milestones

Josie is almost 20 months and here are a few of her latest milestones.

She's been interested in the potty so here are a few practice sessions...

One day it happened and we heard the tinkle come out. This was her expression.

 She hasn't really been interested in trying since then. :)

We got a new car seat and she's facing forward and loves it. It so nice to be able to interact with her and see her cute little face.

She also got her first scraped knee from falling on gravel but she took it like a champ. She got up brushed her self off. She had a boo boo face for a second and got right back to running around on the gravel. She asks for a few kisses now and then to make it better. 

She counts to three in Spanish and I finally got her counting on video 1-10. She can pretty much do her abc's but I'll have to get that video another time. Excuse the food in her mouth while she's talking. Unless she's tied into her chair it's hard to get her sitting still so while she's eating it's easy to get her attention. Enjoying her Swedish meatballs.

Stanford High School Cross Country Invitational

This is our 3rd year watching Trent run in this 5k event. Josie was in utero year 1. Freshman year Trent came in 44th place out of a 200+. Sophomore year he beat his time by 2 min and came in 14th out of 214 with a time of 16:13 (5:13/mile).

2010

2011 results: 4th place! His time was 15:43 (5:04/mi) Next year first place??? The winning time was 15:20 (4:56/mi).

Fancy-free Friday 9/23

It was another hot day so we headed to the pool at PCC. We had the pool to ourselves.

After nap time we went to visit Anne-Marie and Peyton. Outside their cute townhouse they have a common courtyard with a fun play ground.

The girls had fun playing in their tutus.

Back to the playground, high heels and all.

Josie tried out all the different big kid bikes.

We had a couple errands to run. Josie spilled water on her dress and it was pretty wet so I changed her into her spare clothes before going in the store. Josie loved having a quick tea party in Pottery Barn Kids.

Cooling Off

Saturday 9/17 was a scorcher. We cooled off in John and Jody's pool.

Josie and I love having Fridays off together. 

We walked to Burton Park...

We shared a treat at Starbucks...

Walked to the San Carlos Post Office and then to the Library. We checked out our very first books for Josephine. She loves Caps for Sale and we read it a couple times a day...

We walked home and had lunch and she took a long nap. Mommy made soup. 

 We went to visit our friends Bob and Betty to wish Betty a belated birthday. Eric made her choc chip cookies which she loves. Josie loved showing Betty the monkey game on my phone. We got to listen to Betty play some beautiful classical music on the piano. 

We brought dinner to the Rankin's to say goodbye and wish Rachel well as she headed off to UCLA. Later others gathered and we prayed for Rach...

Our send off gift for Rach and her new apartment was a teapot and her favorite tea.

Josie is still learning how to use a spoon and makes a bit of a mess eating. She does enjoy her food.

Girls Weekend

Eric went away for the weekend so this is how Josie and I spent our time. It started on Friday since it's my day off. We went on a long run at Sawyer Camp Trail. Since Josie was such a good sport being stuck in her stroller for so long I took her to Coyote Point Beach so she could run around. I was disappointed by the lack of sand on the beach. Josie has fun anyway with her sand toys in the rocky sand and once I convinced her to put her toes in waters she could hardly stay away. It was so much warmer than I expected. Josie had fun running through the waves. 

It was windy at the beach but not quite as windy as the video makes it seem.

Friday night we went to the Stanford women's volleyball game with Tara, Lauren, & Rachel and cheered loudly as Stanford beat Penn St. in four games. They jump up to #1 in the National Ranking. Go Stanford. We both went to bed two hours passed our usual bed time.

Saturday, we slept in (well she slept in 'til 8 and I woke up at 6) and made pancakes for breakfast. 

 

Josie loves standing at the counter helping. She poured in the mix, water, applesauce, cinnamon and the egg with very little help. She used the whisk to stir it but that of course was a little more difficult.

She likes pouring so she poured her cantaloupe into a cup and nibbled on those.

 Then we got to sample our pancakes with blueberries on top. They were delicious.

We walked to the library and story time just happened to be starting....

 After hearing a couple stories, playing and reading some more we walked down town to get some lunch at Speederia Pizza.

 Next stop was the Reading Bug. After we read Goldi Locks Has Chicken Pox we kept discovering more corners of the store that had fun play areas that we've never seen before. When I was at the register paying for a birthday gift I looked over at Josie in the next section over and she was sitting in the middle of the train table.

 Next stop was the Thrift Store. We walked out with two books for 81 cents.

 We were on our way to Burton Park and we ran into Tara, Lauren, and Caleb. They also had been to the Library, downtown and were on their way to the Thrift Store. We snagged Caleb and headed to the park.

 At last Josie could take a long awaited nap while mom walked 45 min. home up hills and in what seemed like 110 degree weather with no hat. I did put on another layer of sun screen and was a big sweat ball when I got home. The transfer was successful and she slept another 2 hours in her bed. All in all in was a great day and I knocked off 14,202 steps just in the walk.

Sunday morning we went on a run, took a few turns on the slide at the end of the run. We were 15 minutes late to church and the nursery. After Josie played in the Emma Park, went home for a quick lunch and 3 hr nap.

 

Yeah, Daddy's home at last!
