A week in review

On Sunday I went out with Eric's Aunt, niece, sister, and mom to celebrate Gaylynne's birthday. We had lunch at the Cool Cafe at the Stanford Cantor Art Museum and then went on a docent led tour of the Walker Evan's photography exhibit. It was a fun afternoon and a great exhibit.

After work Josie and I took a walk to the top of our hill and across the creek. It was slightly windy and Josie said, "mommy the trees are waving to me". She said this about the bright yellow bushes.

Tonight we used our gift certificate at a yummy San Carlos restaurant called Town. It was warm enough to eat outside under the heater. We walked around downtown after and didn't need jackets. I had delicious pistachio crusted halibut. The server brought Josie her own "starter", carrots with dipping sauce.

Daddy and Josie read all her library books tonight.

Josie moment

Josie was drawing on her doodle mat and spilled some water. I gave her a paper towel to wipe it up and she said, "I can't wipe it up. I'm using my imagination." She finally did and then was running around in circles on her mat. I asked if she was going to do some more drawing and she said, "No, my imagination is gone."

She wore her hat home from swimming b/c she had a wet head and it was cold and rainy out and she didn't want to take it off.

She's into wearing her "surfing" shorts when she swims.

Eaton Trail again

We went back to the Eaton trail after daycare last week when it wasn't raining and found these dirt bike jumps. Josie has fun running up and down. Some we tried to get up but they were too steep. She had fun drawing her letters in the dirt.

Just playing around with the editing features and added some color.

Friday Fun 3/23

What a beautiful, sunny day. Josie and I went to the Palo Alto Children's Zoo & Museum with Brigit and her daughter Kaira. The girls had fun exploring inside and out and dodging our cameras whenever possible.

At the end of the day when it turned cold and blustery Josie and daddy wanted to go on a quick bike ride.

Happy St. Patty's Day

Today was the first day of swim lessons. We had the same teacher we had 8 months or so ago but Kings Swim Academy opened a new location in San Carlos so it's super convenient. I had a cute green swim suit for her to wear but she wanted her "surfing" shorts b/c she wanted to go to surf lessons. She did great in class.

We did a little shopping at target for diapers by got side tracked in women's clothing. Josie was standing in the cart with her pony purse picking out a shirt for Aunt Karen. I was looking for a pair of jeans for Karen so that's how Josie got the idea for a shirt. Which we didn't buy. On to TJ's for some food.

Looking forward to one day visiting the land of her Irish roots.

Rainy Friday Fun

It's been raining for a few days and we woke up to more rain. Josie stayed in her pj's for a good portion of the day. I sorted through her old clothes and she played in her room with blocks and puzzles, books and then Shuli, our neighbor, came to visit. She played and then ate lunch with us. She got a little peak at what life is like home with a toddler. Josie was extra hyper and showing off a little. Josie went down for a nap around 1:30 but didn't go to sleep. She was having a grand old time in her bed. I got her out around 2:30 so we could go to free play at My Gym from 3:15-4:15. Then we went to the library for an hour. After dinner we brought our library books outside to snuggle up in the rocking chair and read books while listening to the rain and to watch the waterfalls when the wind blew it off the awning. Josie went to sleep pretty quickly after a busy, fun-filled day.

Josie tried the climbing wall for the first time.

This is the first time she jumped off something high with two feet by herself.

Eaton Hiking Trail in San Carlos

Thursday after school Josie and I went on a hike for an hour. It was a steady light rain until the end. We were gifted with a faint rainbow at the top. Josie walked for 45 min. up hill and then I carried her most of the way down b/c Eric was waiting for us at home with his homemade pizza in the oven. It was a little steep and slippery so the downward trek was going slow. When I asked if she wanted me to carry her she said, "yes, will you take care of me?" We made it down in no time.

Josie found a mushroom and carried it to another patch of mushrooms so he could be with his mom.

Santa Barbara Spa

Josie had fun being pampered during her visit to SB. Katie gave her a face massage and did her hair. I guess she was in the bath long enough to get wrinkly. What a treat to have two days of baths. Much better than sitting in the sink. Thanks Gram and Katie! (Pictures courtesy of gram).

Josie in the sink

Josie enjoys sitting in the sink and washing up before bed.

Bedside stands: step-by-step

In case you wanted to build some bedside stands here are some pics to follow. Or, you can have Eric make them for you in about 125 hours. Just showing off some of his handiwork. He did not do the final paint job. They are beautiful pieces if I may say so myself.

Introducing Baby Devin

Ryan and Amy welcome in their little leap year baby. What a cutie.

Sunday morning

Around 9am this morning I opened Josie's door to make sure she was still breathing and since her room was chilly I left the door open. She did go to bed late and lost an hour of sleep but 9am was late for her. About 10 min. later I could hear her stirring. I peeked in her room and she was sitting up in bed with a big smile. I said good morning and she said, "rise and shine and give God the glory". Warms her momma's heart. She saw her helmet hanging on her hook and she said she wanted to wear her helmet and go watch a show with Olivia and baby (a.k.a. rainbow bear), bible (a.k.a. pocket calendar), and pillow. She gathered them all up and I let her watch her new potty video from the library for 10 min.

You'll see in the video poor daddy woke up at 4:30 and then dozed on the couch around 9.

We then dashed off to church and a birthday party at My Gym. She was in bed by 2pm but while I was off visiting baby Devin Josie was having a party in her crib. She fell asleep around 4 and is just waking up now at 6:25. We'll see what happens tonight.

Saturday dinner guests

Our neighbors on Winding Way, Justin, Brigit, & Kaira, came over for dinner. The girls had fun running around and laughing together. Josie is about 2 months older. Kaira brought the cute little table for Josie.

Friday highlights

We woke up to a beautiful sunny morning. Eric wanted to try out Josie's new bike seat.

After breakfast Josie was playing in her room and I walked in and had to run for my video. It was so cute to see her sitting there talking to her self with her cute "trick-or-treat" hat on her head (thanks Gaylynne - she gets a lot of use out of this seasonal hat).

Mommy had to go to work so lucky Josie got to spend a few hours at Grandma's house. When I picked her up it was still early enough to enjoy the gorgeous weather so we biked to the park with daddy. I managed to grab a helmet at Target so we were set. As you can see she didn't want to take off her new helmet. It's really cute with little yellow giraffes and flowers. If you notice Josie's feet look a little funny it's b/c she has her shoes on the wrong feet. When I told her she said "I'm ok".

She became very attached to her helmet. She wore it while eating a banana, while eating her friend egg for dinner and while washing up for bed. She finally let me take it off to to put on her pjs. I was a little worried she'd want to wear it to bed. She said her helmet is beautiful.

A few songs

Josie loves to sing and she's into imaginary play with her little fairies and her dinosaurs. I haven't captured that on video b/c it's hard to do without her seeing me. I did manage to get some songs.

Fancy-free Friday 3/2

Josie wanted to wear her pink ballet outfit and two pairs of leg warmers and her Cub's jacket. She reminds me of a dancer checking on her beat-up feet. She does happen to have a callous on her big toe and below it. Not sure how her sweet tender skin b/c came so rough. Definitely takes after her daddy.

I was in need of some new necklaces so was paying for my purchases as Josie rung it up on the cash register. I bought one little fairy which Josie is scanning in the 3rd picture.

We took the train to Palo Alto, walked to JFoss (cousin Janet's store), visited for about 20 minutes and took the train home. It was a beautiful sunny day. A little more about her outfit: Cub's jacket is a hand-me-down from Miller and ballet outfit and shoes are hand-me-downs from Katie.
Josie is explaining in the video that we went to "where Janet lives" (she means Janet's store) in "Alto" (Palo Alto) and we saw "Janet and a different Janet" (first time meeting the other Janet from the store). When Eric asks about Stephen she talks about the painting he made hanging in our house.

After her nap Josie wanted to play with her magnetic shape board. She got this for her birthday from her friend Kaira. She managed to complete the whole turtle by fitting the right shapes.
