5 yrs 10 months

As we enter the Advent season Josie and Sniffles are as active as ever. Once Josie is in bed she crashes pretty quickly. Once Sniffles stops moving he crashes sometimes with mouth open in mid bite of what ever he was playing with/biting. The other night Josie said she got up in the middle of the night and brought Sniffles in her room and up to bed with her. Then she put him down in his box after awhile. Maybe that's why she crashes hard b/c she's up playing in the middle of the night. I'm pretty sure what she's saying is true b/c we always have her door closed at night with Sniffles on the outside. One morning I couldn't find Sniffles and he was sleeping in his box in her room with the door closed. Sneaky pair. Sniffles has had fun climbing in the middle of the Christmas tree. He's managed to knock off 5 ornaments so far. Josie strategically put kitty proof ornaments on the bottom. Hopefully he only plays with the lower ones and when he's climbing he'll stick to the middle where he can't reach ornaments.

Big news: Josie lost her first tooth and she thinks she swallowed it. It's such a teeny tiny bottom tooth that fell out in the middle of the night. The tooth fairy came anyway. Josie wrote a cute little thank you note.
On a chilly evening in our house Josie and I got on our pjs and winter gear to snuggle up and read bedtime stories.
Josie and I went to see Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat put on by San Jose youth preforming arts. Outstanding job. We love the music and sing all the songs. It was fun for Josie to finally see it. We happened to sit right behind Dave and his youngest daughter Sophia. Older daughter Emma was in the show. Dave's wife, Annette, and I worked at Stanford together for many years and occasionally see each other. Small world.
Izzy came over for a dinner play date. Fortunate for her Josie had recently open up her Salon "Pink is Perfect". Interesting name since she doesn't like pink and hasn't for awhile. But just because she doesn't like the color doesn't mean it's not a good name for a salon. Eric and I were her guinea pigs the day before and each got a cheek design. Izzy was such a good sport to have a full face design. I guess she picked the design from the idea book and Izzy was delighted with the final product. Maybe it wasn't Josie's best work but Izzy could barely stop giggling which makes it hard to be perfect with your lines.
We went to buy sneakers and Josie wanted to put on a fashion show with "high" heel shoes on. Not one of her finer stylish moments.
Shauna and Juliette came by for a visit. Juliette fell in love with Sniffles. We're praying like crazy for Juliette as she goes through her cancer treatment.
Storytelling at Josie's school. Really fun event.

Stephen had an artist reception at a gallery in Menlo Park. Very cool pieces of art in need of large wall space.

Cousin Paige had her 6th bday party at Pump it Up. Impressive Frozen Cake make by her talented mom.

Hike at Jasper Ridge Geological Preserve with John and Jody. The white haired lady was our guide and she was great.  She's been a docent for something like 40 years. It was my first time visiting. It's part of Stanford University land and you can only go on guided hikes. It was a beautiful day and really interesting hike.

The Saturday before Thanksgiving Josie and I met Karen, Luke and Katie in Paso Robles. I was handing Josie off to them for a few days. Before we said good bye we went to visit a breeder that had some puppies they were interested in seeing. They actually didn't want a puppy but who could resist these adorable miniature Australian shepherds. It was so funny to hold these little guys. In a few days they will be proud owners of the little black and white one, Panda, Katie is holding. I'm anxious to find out his new name.

In deep contemplation over the purchase of this pup. Luke has a concerned look on his face.

Josie ready to take one or all five pups home.

 Too cute for words.
Couldn't resist all the puppy videos. Someday we hope to get a puppy for Josie. In the first video you see a glimpse of the owner's kid. In the last video you hear him crying in the background.
By the way Josie had a great time in SB for three nights. She didn't miss us for a second and would have stayed longer. She had a 24/7 built in playmate. Thanks Katie for being a great cousin!

Josie and Sniffles jumping for joy while watching the Macy's parade.
Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast at school. The kids made their costumes and made costumes for the families as well. The kids sang songs and recited poems. It was impressive how many they had memorized. After their was a feast to enjoy. The following week we had the real feast and John and Jody's. Fun to have the girls home from college. It was a surprise to Matt that they were coming home.
Super cute, stylish kitty carrier someone from work passed along to us.
Josie was making a fort and put up a sign "No cats allowed". Sniffles didn't obey. Josie still loves him anyway. So much that she put him in the sink and tried to give him a little bath. Of course Sniffles didn't like that but still loves her anyway.
This kitty can sleep. In a car seat, stinky Croc, carrier, in front of the wood stove, and of course in a cozy box with or without a zebra.
Sniffles at work looking up some numbers in my Rolodex. He's a big help. Especially when he walks across my key board.
