6th and final post of vacation: trip home

We were in West Hartford for one week and flew home on New Years Eve. Our original flight was from Hartford to Newark, NJ with a 3 hr layover and then a straight fight to SFO. We really wanted a shorter layover and one that was midway like Chicago. We called the day before to check about changing flights but it was $300 per ticket. We kept our original flights. Just as we were boarding they called our names and asked if we wanted to volunteer to be bumped. I immediately said yes. We didn't check any bags so they bumped us to a flight leaving 45 minute later (long enough to get to the next gate and for Eric to get food), the layover was 2 hrs in Chicago, (long enough for Josie to play in the really fun children's play area and for us to eat dinner), and they paid us $150 each for our next flight. We were so thankful for that incredible blessing. After dinner in Chicago just before we boarded Josie fell asleep and slept for 3 hrs.

Josie didn't always want to be carried in the snuggli after being cooped up on our laps for hours on end. We got a few laughs as we walked through the airport.
