Mexico Mission Trip April 11-19

Our 2nd annual trip to Ensenada with PCC. This year we had 80 HS students and 40 adults with some kids. It was a big group compared to our 50/50 group last year. It was fun to see how God moved in the lives of our students and leaders. It was a little easier for Josie since she was a year older and a little more independent. Which of course made it easier for me too. Because of Eric's expertise we moved around to a couple different sites instead of staying with one team at one site like we did last year. It worked out well b/c we were mostly at a church across the street from a park. The local kids were on Spring break so they hung out at the park. Josie had fun playing with the kids. She now knows a few Spanish words so at least could say "hola" to the kids and tell them how old she was and ask their name. They always asked me her name in Spanish. I guess Josie was hard to understand until they heard Josephina and then they recognized her name. The weather was little warmer this year at night and mornings. Great trip all in all.

Pics from the park and neighborhood.
Pato Pato Ganso (Duck Duck Goose)

Josie brought her dinosaurs and fairies and played with them in the dirt with the kids. Also there were craft projects for the kids.
Josie's 3yr-old friend Sariya (was a little aggressive for Josie at times). Josie was taking a break in the truck and Sariya crawled in to play too.
Some of the church ladies made lunch every day and our students helped. Delicious with a capital D!
 Little blondie
Yes, some work did get done. A new roof for the church.

Rubber band bracelets and rings were a big hit.

 Saying goodbye
Another site (men's rehab center) in the middle of nowhere with no kids around.
Our tent city at the camp. Outside of Ensenada in the hills and vineyards.
Eric and I had our air mattress to sleep on. Josie had a sleeping bag to sleep on top of and then slept inside her warmer sleeping bag with her owl blanket from Grandma Kay (plus long underwhere under jammies). She was cozy even when she rolled out of her bag.
Morning and evening chapel on the hillside.
Glory and Tea were there again this year but on a different site so Josie got to play with them before and after meals and chapel.

Baptisms on the way home in Coronado.
Cousin Matt was on the trip.
After fun on the beach we drove straight home. Luckily Josie slept the last chunk of it since we got home about 1am. The rest of the group spent the night on the floor at a church and debriefed about the trip.
